Ingredients in Valentine Strawberries

How to Make Valentine Strawberries (2)
  • Fresh strawberries- Use the best strawberries you can find. They should be fully red and firm.
  • Dairy-free chocolate chips -I recommend usinghigh quality chocolate, such as Nestle or this dairy-free version from Enjoy Life. Although you can use any type of chocolate you'd like. I prefer a mixture of dark and semi-sweet chocolate chips for flavor.
  • Sprinkles- Use an assortment of red, pink, and white sprinkles for decorating these Valentine's Day strawberries. Just make sure they are gluten free, like these.

Equipment

You don't need any fancy equipment or tools to make perfect chocolate-covered strawberries! Just grab these common kitchen supplies:

  • Plate, wax paper, or parchment paper
  • Microwave-safe bowl
  • Spoon

Storing Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries

  • Chocolate dipped strawberries store well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. The chocolate will have the best bite straight from the fridge.

💭Top Tip

Drizzle any leftover chocolate over the strawberries to add extra detail. A little melted white chocolate adds a lovely design to the chocolate coating.

Food Safety

Because they are not cooked, the chocolate dipped strawberries can be stored either at room temperature or in the fridge. They will stay fresh for about 1 day on the counter or up to 3 days in the fridge.

Valentine Strawberries FAQs

Why are my chocolate covered strawberries not sticking?

The tricky part about dipping fresh fruit in chocolate is making the chocolate actually stick! To do this, the strawberries must be completely dry. The chocolate will not stick to wet strawberries, even if they're just barely damp.

What temperature should strawberries be for dipping in chocolate?

It's very important to use room temperature strawberries! Cold strawberries can cause the chocolate to set too fast, which will affect the final appearance. Just rinse the strawberries really well and let them air dry on a kitchen towel for a few hours before dipping. They'll be ready to dip as soon as they're dry!

How long do you leave chocolate covered strawberries in the fridge to harden?

The chocolate on your strawberries will begin to harden whether you leave them at room temperature or put them in the fridge. You'll be able to speed the hardening process up by placing the strawberries in the fridge for at least 10 minutes.
