This research was conducted in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) “Wilber Segura” belonging to the Empresa Agroindustrial Ceballos, in the period from 12 to 20 March 2012. The evaluated items were the basis for determining the harmfulness of insects associated Scarabaeidae plantations guava (Psidium guajava Lin.) with the implementation of a management that ensures appropriate plant increased life and crop yield; for this the number of larvae that affect the root system of the plant and a diagnostic methodology was designed to assess the involvement caused by beetles was examined. The results show that there is a relationship between the number of larvae m-2 in the root system of each plant, with symptoms manifested in leaf area compared to a loss of pigment chlorophyll and carotenoids increased. As you increase the degree of damage, increases the number of larvae m-2, plants grade 0 reached three larvae/m2, the grade 1 from 4 to 16 larvae m-2, grade 2 from 17 to 30 lar...
Revisión del género Macrolepiota Singer (Agaricales, Basidiomycota) en Chile
María José Dibán Karmy
Macrolepiota genus include 30 species widely distributed around the world, being these saprobionts. In Chile, three species have been documented: M. procera, M. bonaerensis y M. rachodes, at present the last specie currently belong to the genus Chlorophyllum. In this review, the macromorphological, and microscopic characteristics of the three species mentioned above are described according to the literature. In addition, a dichotomous key was adapted based on the literature to facilitate the determination of the species.

Inocybe sindonia (Fr.) P. Karst. and Amanita rubescens Pers. are species typically associated to Pseudotsuga menziesii (Mirb.) Franco and Pinus radiata D. Don respectively. Both species have been introduced in South America together with timber species plantations. Basidiomes of I. sindonia were found occurring under Nothofa*gus dombeyi (Mirb.) Oerst., while basidiomes of A. rubescens were found under N. pumilio (Poepp. & Endl.) Krasser in protected areas that are under invasion of exotic conifers.
Bioétics in Ecuador (spanish)
Gabriel Escobar

Profe Tupac
Orchids require a mycorrhizal relationship for seed germination. Many mycorrhizal fungi are in the form-genus Rhizoctonia, with teleomorphs in the genera Ceratobasidium, Tulasnella, Thanatephorus and Sebacina. So far there are very few reports of orchid mycorrhizal fungi in Colombia. The objectives of the present study were to isolate mycorrhizal fungi of orchids from different habitats in Colombia, and identify them by counting nuclei in young hyphae and sequencing the ITS region of nuclear ribosomal genes. We identified 12 isolates from 8 plants of different species of orchids. BLAST searches in GenBank and binucleate cellsplaced all isolates in the genus Ceratobasidium. The results suggest that this genus is associated with a wide variety of orchids from various habitats in Colombia. However, the consistency of the association raise questions about the pathogenicity of mycorrhizal Ceratobasidium on other plants, and their potential for biocontrol of pathogenic fungi in crops such as rice.
