Super Bowl Odds Update: Ravens and 49ers Ready to Rejoin Party (2024)

With the opening postseason round now completed, we turn our eyes to one of the best weekends in sports: the NFL Divisional Round.

By now, there are just eight teams left with a shot at this year's Lombardi Trophy. At FanDuel Sportsbook, the odds to win Super Bowl LVIII have begun to tighten at an accelerated rate. Keep in mind: six teams were eliminated last weekend, and four more will follow suit in a few days.

For the moment, the dust has settled, but that will all be subverted again when the action resumes on Saturday afternoon. Still, the San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens -- this season's respective No. 1 seeds -- currently show the shortest Super Bowl odds at all shops. I think football fans and bettors alike will be excited to see those two sides returning to action this weekend.

Considering the competitive field is quickly shrinking, let's have a look at the teams on the rise in the Super Bowl odds market.

Notable Jumps

Baltimore Ravens

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +270
Last Week: +350

Notably, the Ravens played well enough in 2023 to earn a first-round playoff bye. From the comforts of home, Baltimore was able to watch the Cleveland Browns go down at the hands of the Houston Texans. Later on Wild Card Weekend, the Pittsburgh Steelers met that same fate, falling short at the Buffalo Bills. Already, that leaves the Ravens as the lone team left from the AFC North (which was largely considered the NFL's top division this year).

Likely headed toward his second league MVP award, Baltimore quarterback Lamar Jackson produced another stellar regular season. Extending plays like only he can, Jackson -- with a sharp QBR of 64.6 (fourth) -- guided the Ravens to the NFL's best record of 13-4. Undeniably, Jackson has developed a thriving on-field relationship with dynamic rookie receiver Zay Flowers (11.1 yards per reception).

Of course, B-More currently boasts one of the most well-rounded rosters in the game. On defense, the Ravens surrendered only 16.5 points per game (PPG), which was the stingiest clip in the NFL this past year. In terms of total yardage allowed, Baltimore was the sixth-best unit (301.4).

At numberFire, their power rankings are keen on the Ravens' Super Bowl chances, giving Baltimore a 24.1% chance (second-best) to win the big game in Vegas. This Saturday afternoon at "The Bank," the Ravens will attempt to flock up on a surging Texans team. Could that be the game of the week?

Buffalo Bills

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +490
Last Week: +650

No amount of snow was going to keep Buffalo from getting to the Divisional Round. After a weather postponement (enacted by the Governor of New York), the Bills' clash with Pittsburgh was moved to this past Monday afternoon. Either way, with star signal-caller Josh Allen leading the charge, Buffalo ran roughshod over the Steelers.

The paradoxical Allen had another roller-coaster season, but he has done well to turn on the juice over the recent stretch. Overall, Allen produced the league's third-best QBR this year (69.4). From there, the Wyoming alum was fourth in passing yardage (4,280).

We all know Allen can make superhuman plays on the field, but there are occurrences when his abilities put the football in harm's way. By end of the regular season, his 18 committed interceptions were most in the AFC. Additionally, Allen fumbled seven times in 2023-24.

Coming to the offense's aid, the defense in Buffalo has done well to ramp up their play. For points against, the Bills have been the fourth-most prolific unit, allowing only 18.3 PPG. In the defensive backfield (led by safety tandem Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde), the Bills held opponents to 216.2 yards per game through the air, and that's a trait that should serve well for Buffalo's upcoming clash with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Detroit Lions

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +900
Last Week: +2100

Arguably, there is no fanbase higher right now than the Detroit Lions (especially with the way the NBA team in that town has performed). In a primetime slot, Jared Goff and company vanquished the Los Angeles Rams at home in front of Motor City's finest. Of course, the Rams were led by Matthew Stafford in the playoff loss. Oh, the irony...

Riding the momentum of their first playoff victory since 1992, the Lions will next host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. At FanDuel Sportsbook, Detroit currently reflects as a 6.5-point favorite versus Tampa. However, let us not forget that these sides last competed head-to-head as recently as Week 6.

Back in October, the Bucs hosted Detroit in West Central Florida. On that day, the Lions' defense kept Tampa Bay out of the end zone, ultimately winning by a score of 20-6. For the offense, Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams each provided a lengthy touchdown reception en route to victory.

With the hosting duties now reciprocated, the Lions will look to protect home-field advantage for the second consecutive week. Back at numberFire, the Super Bowl projections have Detroit at a 8.5% shot to raise the Lombardi Trophy next month. At the moment, that clip is good enough for second-best in the NFC.

Green Bay Packers

FanDuel Sportsbook Odds: +3000
Last Week: +10000

Showcasing the largest leap in the Super Bowl LVIII odds market this past week, the Green Bay Packers just grabbed the respect of everyone around the league. Notably, Green Bay is fresh off marching into "Jerry World" wherein they put up 48 points in a road victory against the Dallas Cowboys.

Attempting to follow in the footsteps of Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers, Jordan Love has gotten his playing career representing the "Cheeseheads" off to a fantastic start. Despite hiccups along the way, Love has guided the Packers to a 9-8 record, qualifying for the playoffs on the final day of the regular season.

After an iconic upset of Dallas (which featured 3 scores and 272 passing yards from Love), Green Bay will next head west to Santa Clara where the 49ers await. That means the Packers will be substantial underdogs for the second consecutive contest. On Tuesday, FanDuel Sportsbook has San Francisco labeled as a 9.5-point home favorite. Assuredly, doubt like that should motivate the Pack.

Green Bay will have a tougher time stopping the run versus the Niners, which is exactly what the Packers did last weekend at Dallas. However, numberFire's NFL power rankings have San Francisco (13.18 nERD) as the top team in the league while also holding the second-best ground attack. For the Pack (4.15 nERD), they land at eighth overall.

There will be plenty of storylines leading up to this NFC Divisional clash in Northern California, but Green Bay absolutely has a shot. Understanding that the Packers still hold 30-to-1 odds in the Super Bowl market, Green Bay is certainly worth a second look here as their surge continues.
